Therapeutic Sessions

My work emphasizes the development of imaginative, intuitive and emotional faculties which can be used in discovering the potential for self-healing and self-development that lies dormant within each person. The starting point for this exploration is often a problem with grief, depression, trauma, loss or anxiety.

Sometimes people have no specific problems, but wish to explore the possibilities for further personal growth, or they may just have a vague feeling that they are stuck and need to make a change.

My background includes over thirty years work in a variety of settings, in education and counselling, which focused on a strong commitment to the underprivileged, women and second-chance learners. I hold a diploma in counselling and my therapeutic approach includes Jungian, Psychosynthesis and client-centred procedures, art-work and the use of personal symbolism.

I am involved with a network of therapists, as well as being a member of the AHPP. I also continue to undertake further courses in professional development, allied to my work in pastoral counselling.

I work in private practice with men and women, individually and in partnership counselling. Working with children is a specialism and I see this as a way of fostering the growth of emotional and intuitive qualities from a young age.

Supervision and training therapy can be arranged for trainee counsellors and others who require it. Clients usually come once a week for an hour, over a period of time that can be negotiated and I encourage individual work between sessions. 48 hours notice of cancellation is required, otherwise the full sessional fee will be charged.

Telephone consultations can be arranged for people who cannot come for face-to-face sessions.

The cost is £35 per session and £45 for those who are covered by medical insurance. Concessionary places are occasionally available and are offered on a sliding scale which is subject to discussion at the initial interview.

If you would like to make an initial appointment, please contact Freda Edis via the email link, "Contact Us", on the menu.
