Ever since man began to look at the star-studded heavens there have
been attempts to align the movement of celestial bodies with people and events
here on earth.
Whilst traditional astrology mostly gives attention to
the effects of the stars, Kabbalistic astrology goes much further. Mankind's
life and destiny is viewed against the great backdrop of the four worlds of
Kabbalah. (Diagram)
The interweaving of the physical, psychological, spiritual and divine aspects of
human nature in Kabbalah illustrate the principle
of 'as above, so below'. Kabbalistic astrology then goes on to demonstrate the
effects of this ancient maxim on individual lives and purpose.
Properly speaking, astrology belongs to the second, psychological world of formation,
Yetzirah, but the way in which we naturally connect with the other three worlds can be
seen through the lens it offers.
As an example, the planet Saturn, which is placed at Binah in Yetzirah, governs our capacity for
hard, perhaps physical work at Binah in Assiyah, the material world. In
Yetzirah, it allows us to understand the natural, psychological and man-made
laws which stand behind our physical existence.
The world of Beriah takes us a step further. Here, our understanding of Saturn's influence in
Yetzirah give us a chance to learn about those greater laws and limitations of
the spiritual world, the cosmos, which bind us to existence. Binah in Azilut
is the root force of the laws which govern the whole of existence.
Every member of humanity has a purpose in life which astrology can help to outline clearly.
But no life is set in all its details: people have free will and can choose the ways in
which they may move.
Each person is one thread in the great tapestry of existence.
Kabbalistic astrology, by describing the many options the birthchart offers,
shows how the pattern of every individual life may be understood and acted
upon.
Kabbalah applies no less to
mundane astrology, the astrology of nations and momentous events.
All astrology fits into the wider framework of Kabbalah
and is one perspective among many to help people understand the large and small
events in their lives..... |
